Dear Sun Spots: Where would one be able to find a book, “Images of America Lisbon Maine” or the history of Litchfield Maine book? Thanks for any help. – No Name, No Town.

Answer:
You should check in with your local bookstore to see if they carry it. Sun Spots has seen it around in several stores.

Sun Spots checked with Mr. Paperback, Promenade Plaza, 855 Lisbon Street, Lewiston, Maine 04240, 783-2273 who can order the Lisbon one for you. They are open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Litchfield one does not appear to be available, so Sun Spots would encourage you to contact the publishers, who will hopefully be able to assist you. Alternatively, perhaps someone out there has one they would be willing to give you or provide for a reasonable price.

Sun Spots also checked with Waldenbooks in the Auburn Mall, near Steve and Barry’s, 783-8946, www.waldenbooks.com. They are open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Saturday and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Along with carrying this series of books, they also have two full bookcases of all things local. These include large picture books, books on ghosts of New England and more. You might want to also consider these when locating the one you are seeking.

In the meantime, you might also check with the publishers themselves. They are Arcadia Publishing, 420 Wando Park Blvd. Mount Pleasant, SC 29464, 843-853-2070 (EST 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Friday), www.arcadiapublishing.com.

Dear Sun Spots: Our students, their families and friends at the Kingfield Elementary School have been collecting can tabs to help children with health needs. The organization that we were giving them to no longer collects them. We were hoping you or your readers could help us in finding a new organization near Kingfield that collects can tabs. Thank you. – Jane Lane, Kingfield.

Answer:
Hopefully, Kingfield or other local readers or collectors will be able to assist you here.

In the meantime, contact Sabattus Central and Primary schools, which collect can tabs to benefit burn victims year round. Tabs from cat food, soup cans, soda etc., can be delivered to the central school office at 40 Ballpark Road, Sabattus, ME 04280. For more information, call Linda Lincoln at 375-6961, ext. 209.

Another alternative, you and your pupils might consider is collecting the tabs to benefit the Ronald McDonald House down in Portland. Save any tabs from soda, vegetable, soup, pet food cans, and special diet food cans and place in any container. They can be sent, or dropped off, to The Ronald McDonald House of Portland, 250 Brackett Street, Portland, ME 04102.

Collecting the tabs helps the home’s goal to create awareness of and community support for the House, raise funds to help families, and promote recycling at the same time. Tabs are weighed by Maine Metal Recycling and the money collected, about 50 cents a pound, helps to offset operational costs.

Dear Sun Spots: I have been researching the Benartex calendar too and found one on eBay that is the Angels Among Us series for 2007. As you mentioned the 2008 calendar is called Love Is. The quilt shop address in Stillwater, is Pine Tree Country Quilts, P.O. Box 343, Stillwater, ME 04489. I hope that helps. – Frances C. Miller, Lewiston.

Dear Sun Spots: I just had my second total knee replacement, and I’m in need of an exercise bike. It would be great if anyone has one to donate or would be willing to sell for a small cost. It does not have to have a timer or anything like that. I will be able to pick it up. Please call 786-7058 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Thank you. – Anne, No Town.
