Lewiston Housing Authority’s youth art work is on display at Central Maine Medical Center during January. Sissi Ventrone, teacher, is pictured with one such creation.

Youth art work on display at CMMC

LEWISTON – The Central Maine Medical Center Visiting Artist Gallery January exhibit features the most recent work of young artists ranging in age from 6 to 18. Work includes ink drawing, watercolor, scratch board and prisms color pencils.

The display is of the Lewiston Housing Authority-sponsored Youth Enrichment Program classes for resident children in arts, crafts and music.

The art curriculum of teacher, Sissi Ventrone, included basic drawing, the concept of perspective, principles of composition and the application of color theory.

Ventrone said she strives to nurture each student’s innate talent and uses an individualized teaching method that can and does express each student’s creative spark as well as encourage pride of accomplishment by setting and achieving their own set of goals.

Exhibiting their work is a vital component of the students’ art education.
