The Sun Journal editorial Jan. 10 prompts me to summarize briefly the open and public decisions made by the Auburn School Committee that served in 2006-2007.

When that committee appointed Tom Morrill as interim superintendent, it decided not to fill the assistant superintendent position for 2007-2008. The committee decided that the assistant superintendent’s duties would be addressed by current staff and by retaining the services of Barbara Eretzian on a temporary basis. The committee’s Feb. 8, 2007, news release outlined that decision.

Eretzian’s per-diem compensation was publicly discussed during consideration of the 2007-08 budget at School Committee meetings on April 25, 2007, and May 16, 2007.
