LEWISTON – The Service Corps of Retired Executives will offer a seminar covering all aspects of buying a business from 1-4 p.m. on Jan. 18 at the Androscoggin Valley Chamber of Chamber, 415 Lisbon St.

Presented by Glen Cooper, president of Maine Business Brokers, seven areas will be explored: Essentials required to buy a business, ways to finance a business purchase, how to search for a business for sale, areas that should be probed while investigating a business, questions to ask before you buy a business, concepts of valuing a going business, and valuation rules of thumb and where they come from.

In addition to business brokerage and business appraisal, Cooper has an extensive background in commercial and investment real estate and was southern Maine’s first certified commercial investment member of the Realtors’ National Marketing Institute of the National Association of Realtors from 1985 to 1992.
