AUBURN – Jury selection in the trial of a Sabattus man charged with shooting his father to death was snowed out Monday.

The nor’easter forced the 11 a.m. closure of the Androscoggin County Superior Court as well as all county offices.

Scott Poirier, 35, admitted killing his father, Roland “Jerry” Poirier, during his 65th birthday party at his home on Grove Street in Lewiston in 2006, police said.

The trial is scheduled to last a week and a half, a court clerk said. It was originally postponned from September, when Poirier’s attorney and trial judge were appointed to new judicial posts.

Poirier is being held at the Androscoggin County Jail.

without bail.
