NEW SHARON – Slow driving on slippery roads resulted in a rear-end collision Monday on Route 27, police said.
Linda Charles, 56, of New Sharon was traveling south on Route 27 followed by Raymond St. Pierre, 37, of Sabattus, investigating officer Sgt. Steven Lowell of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department said. The accident was reported at 12:24 p.m.
Charles, in a 2000 Subaru Outback, was driving slower when the second vehicle, a 2000 Chevy Sierra pickup truck, rear-ended the Outback, Lowell said.
Northstar Ambulance took Charles to Franklin Memorial Hospital when she complained of back pain. She was being treated in the emergency room at mid-afternoon, a hospital spokesperson said.
Minimal damage occurred to the vehicles, Lowell said. He estimated $200 in damage to the truck.
New Sharon’s Fire Department also responded to the crash.
Other minor accidents occurred throughout the storm. Wilton police had responded to five vehicles that had slid off the road by 2 p.m. Monday, said police Chief Dennis Brown, while Farmington’s officers had been called out on a couple calls for vehicles off the road.
