AUGUSTA (AP) – A 25-year-old man from Alna is going to prison for eight years for his role in a home robbery in which a 64-year-old man in a wheelchair was gagged and tied to a refrigerator.
Joshua McInnis was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to robbery, kidnapping and other charges resulting from the home robbery in Windsor last July.
McInnis is the third person to plead guilty in connection with the invasion of the home of 89-year-old Shirley Varney and her disabled son, Eugene Varney. Eugene Varney was gagged and bound to the refrigerator with nylons, phone cord and twine during the robbery.
McInnis’ brother, James McInnis, and Marc Miville were previously sentenced following their guilty pleas.
Another brother, Jacob McInnis, is scheduled for trial in February.
