She was born in Waterville on Sept. 28, 1940, the daughter of Everett M. and Madeline (Merrow) Barrett. She had resided in Clinton all her life except when living in northern Maine with her husband, who was stationed there while working for the Maine Forest Service.

She enjoyed traveling and had been to Germany, France and Alaska as well as much of the United States. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting and loved making baby afghans for her friends and acquaintances. She loved hunting and fishing and the time spent at their camp at Moosehead Lake. She especially enjoyed hunting partridge and loved to watch all the animals in the woods. She also loved her two cats, “Whiskers” and “Honey” as well as her “grand kitties.”

While working, she was employed in the office of the former Ski-Land Woolen Mill in Clinton, and at Clinton elementary school kitchen. In later years, she was employed with several insurance companies as a typist and file clerk. At one time, she did contract typing for the Insect and Disease Division of the Maine Forest Service in Augusta.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel; and their daughter, Gretchen Marie Malloch and her husband, Scott, of Carmel; a brother, Laurence E. Barrett and his wife, Edna, of Clinton; her father-in-law, Earl Pratt of Clinton; her sister-in-law, Ruth Mellan of Colorado Springs, Colo.; very special friends, William Bell of Benton and Rita Freese of Carmel; a special distant cousin, George Merrow and his wife, Rosalie, of Patten; as well as other distant cousins; several adopted “granddaughters”; and her special friends at Lily Bay.
