MEXICO – More than $2,000 worth of drills, Skill saws, air-powered nail guns and other tools were stolen sometime late Jan. 8 or early Jan. 9 from the construction project under way at the Region 9 School of Applied Technology.
Police Sgt. Roy Hodsdon said he has several suspects and may make an arrest as early as today.
The tools were stolen from the construction trailer of the general contractor, Bowman Brothers, for the vocational school’s $4.9 million renovation and addition project. Hodsdon said the firm is covered by insurance.
He said thieves broke into the rear of the trailer through a back door. The lock was broken and the door damaged.
Hodsdon said he found footprints leading from the trailer. By following them, he was able to track down several local people. He is in the process of reviewing several surveillance cameras of places the suspects said they were at during the time of the theft. DNA evidence is also being studied.
