LEWISTON – Ernest R. Fournier, 79, of 28 Bolduc St., Lewiston, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, died unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, Jan. 15.
He was born in Lewiston, July 28, 1928, the son of Vigor and Blanche Lambert Fournier. He was educated at St. Peter’s School and graduated from St. Dominic High School, Class of 1946. He served in the National Guard during World War II.
He married Jeanne F. Gelinas on Sept. 4, 1948, at St. Peter and Paul Church.
In 1952, he founded, owned and operated Screen Printing Co. until his retirement in April 1991. After his retirement, he worked part time in the packing department of L.L. Bean in Freeport for seven years during the Christmas season. He volunteered his time for the Dominican Sisters in Sabattus.
He was a member of the Holy Cross Parish, treasurer of the St. Dominic Educational Fund, Holy Cross Senior Citizens, Horizon 55, lifetime member of Good Sam Club, Lewiston Senior Citizens, Century Club of the Maine Graphics Arts Association, and Covenant 50.
He was a lifelong member of the Lewiston-Auburn community.
He was a fun-loving and caring person who enjoyed good times with family and friends. He enjoyed traveling frequently in his motorhome throughout the United States and Canada with his wife and their dear friends Roger and Anita Chamberlain.
Survivors include two daughters, Doris Young of Whitesboro, N.Y., and Joline Cloutier and her husband, Robert, of Lewiston; one son, Pierre Fournier and his wife, Brenda, of Rome; eight grandchildren, John St. Pierre and his wife, Kristy, Michelle Thibault and her husband, John, Danielle St. Pierre, William Fournier and his wife, Wendy, Jennie Cloutier-Austin and her husband, Adam, Brian Fournier and his fianceé, Amanda Doiron, Stacy Cloutier and Jamie Fournier; three great-grandchildren, Gabrielle St. Pierre, Brent and Aaron Fournier; and one sister, Pauline Fournier of Lewiston.
He was predeceased by the love of his life, Jeanne, on July 26, 2003.
