Board: Minot selectmen

Met: Monday Night

Dispatching contract

Scoop: Selectmen approved a new contract, effective July 1, with the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office to provide emergency dispatch services for about 50 percent more than what the town is now paying. The minimum cost will increase from $18 to $27 per hour. The increase reflects the findings of a study undertaken in conjunction with countywide 911 service consolidation discussions. Fire Chief Steve French advised adding $2,500 to the Fire Department budget request to cover the higher fee.

Health, dental plans

Scoop: After a review of comparative costs, selectmen voted to switch town employees’ health and dental insurance plans to group policies available through the Maine Municipal Association, effective Feb. 1. Town employees now have health insurance coverage from Aetna and dental insurance through Northeast Delta Dental.
