BETHEL – Bailey Davis poured in a game-high 30 points to lead Telstar to a 60-30 rout over Winthrop in MVC girls’ basketball action Thursday.
Josie Reiss chipped in for the Rebels (7-5) with 19 points in what was primarily a two-athlete attack.
The Ramblers (3-9) were paced by Lindsey Gordon and Justine Woodman with seven points each. Winthrop stayed within seven points in the first half before Telstar pulled away with a 17-4 run in the third quarter.
Gray-New Gloucester 37, Wells 32
WELLS – Chelsea Durgin led a group of eight players to score points as Gray-New Gloucester edged Wells 37-32 in girls’ hoops action.
Durgin finished with nine points, while Teri Lynn Sanborn chipped in for the Patriots (6-5) with eight points and Amber Valente added six.
Wells (4-7) was paced by Brooke Stevens with 13 points. Gray-New Gloucester held a 22-14 advantage at the half, floundered slightly in the third quarter but managed to hang on for the win.
Madison 56, Dirigo 42
MADISON – Lacey Ashbrook drained 17 points to propel Madison to a 56-42 victory over Dirigo in an MVC girls’ matchup Thursday.
Margo Russell chipped in for the undefeated Bulldogs (11-0) with 15 points, while Danielle Hebert added 10.
Nikki Kaulback paced the Cougars (6-5) with 17 points. Carrie Jamison and Ricki Sinclair added nine each. Madison held a six-point advantage going into the fourth quarter and pulled away with a 16-8 run.
Boys’ basketball
Wiscasset 53, Monmouth 50
MONMOUTH – Jason Dennison poured in 29 points to help Wiscasset avert an upset in a 53-30 victory over Monmouth.
The Redskins (8-3) limited Monmouth (4-8) to seven points in the third quarter to turn a 29-27 halftime deficit to a 41-36 advantage heading into the final quarter.
Parker Ferland led Monmouth with 14 points, while Dylan Reny added 13 points and Devin Robbins had 10.
Hockey
Lewiston 3, Brunswick 1
BRUNSWICK – Robbie Leeman netted a pair of goals to lead Lewiston to a 3-1 victory over Brunswick in a Class A hockey game Thursday.
Matt Letourneau also tallied for the Blue Devils (9-0-1) to complete the scoring. Cam Poussard made 20 saves for Lewiston, while Matt Pellerin turned aside 29 shots for Brunswick.
The Dragons (5-5) received a goal from Wes Caparratto.
