AUBURN – Romeo C. (Buddy) Moreau, 79, formerly of 18 Caron St., Lewiston, died Sunday, Jan. 13, at Clover Healthcare.
He was born in Lewiston on Feb. 25, 1928, the son of William and Flavie (Ouellette). He was educated in Lewiston schools and graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of 1947. He married Normande (Lajoie) Moreau on Sept. 1, 1952. She currently resides at Clover Healthcare.
He worked as a route salesman for Vincent Bottling Co., Drake’s Bakeries and retired from Seltzer and Rydholm (Pepsi Bottling). He was a reservist in the Army National Guard. He loved to putter around the house, always helping family and neighbors, and was proud of frequently donating blood during local blood drives.
He enjoyed the game of hockey, especially when his two grandsons played youth hockey. Since moving to Clover three years ago, they enjoyed and looked forward to attending religious, social, educational and entertainment programs provided by the Activities Department. A communicant of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul for most of his life, he would often be seen passing the collection basket during Mass.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years; daughter, Joan and her husband, Jim Parker, of Lewiston; two grandsons, Brian and Nicholas Parker, students at the University of Maine in Orono; three brothers-in-law, Robert Lajoie and his wife, Florence, of Florida, Rene Lajoie and his wife, Jocelyn, of Florida, and Bert Lajoie and his wife, Joan, of New Jersey; sister-in-law, Lorraine Labonte of Lewiston; close cousin, Claudette O’Brien of Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; his only brother, Roger in 1972; his sisters-in-law, Dorothy Lajoie and Jeannette Lajoie; and brother-in-law, Simeon Labonte.
The family would like to thank his roommate Rudy, Dr. Hattan, the staff of Res. Care B and the Activities Department staff for the great care they have provided for Buddy. A special thank-you to Dr. Lionel Tardif and his wife, Claire, for their countless visits and enduring friendship.
