TOWANDA, Pa. – Lucienne P. Hodgdon, 94, of Towanda, Pa., and formerly of Lewiston, passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 18, at Memorial Hospital Towanda, Pa. “Lu” was a resident of the Memorial Hospital Personal Care Home since moving to Towanda in 2007 to be closer to her family.

She was born Aug. 18, 1913, in Auburn, to Elmire Perreault Pratt from Bic, Quebec, and Arthur C. Pratt of Lewiston. She grew up in the twin cities of Lewiston and Auburn.

She spent summers at the family property in Westport Island, where she met her husband Carl H. Hodgdon. They were married more than 65 years and lived in Lewiston until his death in 2003. They continued to summer on Westport Island until a few years after Carl retired from the Bath Iron Works.

Lu worked for a short time in the shoe shops in the city, but quit to devote time to her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. For many years, she knit sweaters commercially and sold them to people in Maine and eventually around the country. She continued knitting as a hobby until recently, and gave away hundreds of sweaters to relatives and friends.

Lu participated in many outdoor hobbies throughout her life. She was an avid deer, partridge and rabbit hunter. She also enjoyed hiking and photography. She and Carl belonged to several photography clubs, and won awards for many of her slides, including remote waterfalls in New England to which they hiked. She and Carl also enjoyed square dancing and participated in dances for many years throughout Maine and Southern New Hampshire.

She is survived by her son and his wife, Eric and Dawn Hodgdon of Towanda, Pa.; her grandsons, Travis and Cory; close friends, Roger and Joan Duquesnoy of Sabattus; two nieces; and a nephew.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; an infant daughter, Olga; and a sister, Jeannette Whirley.
