RUMFORD – Pauline R. Goudreau, 81, of Franklin Street, Rumford, died peacefully Saturday, Jan. 19, at Rumford Hospital following a brief illness.

She was born in Rumford on March 11, 1926, a daughter of George W. and Marie Anne (Roy) Goudreau.

Pauline attended Pettingill Elementary School and was an honor graduate of Stephens High School, Class of 1944.

She was employed with Casco Northern Bank for 46 years and retired in 1990 as Manager and a vice president.

Pauline was a communicant of St. Athanasius & St. John Catholic Church, where she served on the parish council and taught religious education classes for many years.

She was a former president of the Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Rumford Hospital Board of Directors.

Even though she had no children of her own, her nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews were so very special to her, and they will miss her dearly.

Pauline was an avid reader, who loved doing crossword puzzles, and excelled in numerous banking classes. She also loved traveling and spent many winters on the Gulf Coast.

She is survived by two sisters, Claire Goudreau of Rumford, and Priscilla Dupill and husband, Henry, of Rumford; four brothers, the Rev. George W. Goudreau of Rumford, Robert F. Goudreau and wife, Elizabeth, of Woburn, Mass., the Rev. Paul J. Goudreau of St. Michaels Parish in Hudson, Fla., and Msgr. Joseph L. Goudreau, retired Army Chaplain of Arlington, Va.; a sister-in-law, Constance Goudreau of Rumford; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Jeanne Tozier; and a brother, Maurice Goudreau.
