A pair of Auburn racewalkers had impressive showings at the Great Boston Track Club Invitational at the University of Rhode Island last weekend.
Christie Bernier, 15, finished in 16:46.6 to earn fourth place and Nicole Court-Menendez, 13, crossed the finish line in 18:36.6 to take fifth in the 3,000 meter racewalk.
Two other Maine racewalkers finished well at the event. Matthew Forgues of Boothbay walke the 3,000 in 14:21.87 to take the silver meadl at the Sorlein meet on Saturday, then retruned on Sunday to walk a personal best time of 14:09.5.
His older sister, Lauren, took the gold medal with a time of 14:33.64 to qualify for the USATF National Indoor 3,000 Meter RW Championships in Boston in late February. On Sunday, she finished second (14:55.2) behind national champion Joanie Dow (13:27.1).
