LIVERMORE FALLS – Senior forward Trevor Wilson hit a 3-pointer at the final buzzer for Georges Valley to steal a 60-58 win from Livermore Falls in MVC boys’ basketball action Monday.
Senior point guard Chris Eustis recorded a team-high 17 points for the Buccaneers (6-5).
Senior point guard Zach Keene was the leading scorer for the Andies (6-8) with a game-high 21 points and 12 rebounds in the losing effort.
Boothbay 52, Mt. Abram 38
BOOTHBAY HARBOR – Senior center Kris Noonan notched a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead Boothbay to a 52-38 victory over Mt. Abram in MVC boys’ basketball action Monday.
Ahead by one at the half, the Seahawks (10-1) opened up the game in the third quarter with a 20-7 run.
Senior forward Joe Farrin contributed 11 points, while junior point guard Dan Hallinan added 10 points.
Junior gaurd Noah Tranten hit a couple of 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to give the Roadrunners (0-11) an opportunity, but Boothbay closed ranks and played even down the stretch. Junior guard Sam Simpson chipped in with 13 points for Mt. Abram.
Dirigo 77, Monmouth 33
DIXFIELD – Four different players scored double digits as Dirigo routed Monmouth 77-33 in KVAC boys’ basketball action Monday.
Colby Knapp led the pack with 22 points, five steals, five assits and six rebounds, while Thomas Knight drained 15 points for the Cougars (12-1). Tyler Chiasson contributed 12 points and Wes Gagnon provided another 10 for Dirigo.
Eric Murphy had seven points for the Mustangs (4-7), while Ron Hobson and Deven Robbins scored six points apiece.
Hockey
Deering 10, Edward Little 1
AUBURN – Nick Bartlett and Peirson Petropoulos had three goals each and Dan Brown had a goal and five assists to lead Deering to a 10-1 win over Edward Little in a Class A showdown at Ingersol Arena on Monday.
Bartlett also had two helpers for the Rams (6-5). Derek Racine had the lone goal for the Eddies (5-8) in the third period.
Poland-Gray/New Gloucester 4, Marshwood 1
HEBRON – Junior left wing Ben Piper netted a pair of goals to lead Poland-Gray/New Gloucester to a 4-0 victory over Marshwood.
The Patriotic-Knights (9-4) skated to a 2-0 lead in the first period. Senior center Corey Cormier contributed a goal and an assist in the winning effort. Julian Maggoire scored the lone goal for Hawks (3-7) .
Hampden 6, Leavitt 3
AUBURN – Nick Pease’s goal 17 seconds into the second period turned the tide and began a run of four consecutive goals that lifted Hampden to a 6-3 victory over Leavitt on Monday.
Eric Theiss appeared to give the Hornets (7-4) the momentum when his goal with four seconds to play in the opening period gave Leavitt a 2-1 lead, but Pease quickly erased that advantage. Michael Mourkas scored less than two minutes later to give the Broncos (6-4) the lead for good. Steve Rouillard scored two goals for Leavitt, while goalie Richard Thibault made 30 saves.
Girls’ basketball
Buckfield 53, Sacopee Valley 21
BUCKFIELD – Buckfield outscored Sacopee Valley 31-3 during the middle two quarters to remain unbeaten with a 53-21 rout over Sacopee Valley.
Alyssa Henderson scored a game-high 14 points for the Bucks (10-0) and Lindsay Henderson added 11 points. Courtney Profenno led Sacopee Valley with seven points.
Georges Valley 64, Livermore Falls 46
THOMASTON – Chelsea Webster led three players in double figures with a game-high 15 points to lead Georges Valley to a 64-46 win over visiting Livermore Falls .Ashley Geel added 14 for the Buccaneers (8-4). Esther Bizier led the Andies (2-12) with 12 points.
St. Dom’s 40, Gould 23
BETHEL – Allaina Murphy netted a game-high 13 points to lead St. Dom’s in a balanced attack as the Saints sailed to a 40-23 victory over Gould.
The Saints (8-5) jumped out to a 16-3 first quarter lead and expanded the margin to 21 before the break. Sarah Theriault contributed nine points, while Catherine Joseph added eight points. Chelse O’Brien paced the Huskies (5-4) with eight ponits.
