ORONO – Joe Zeglinski crafted 28 points on 10 field goals, including six from 3-point range, and a pair of free throws to lead Hartford to a 76-71 victory over the University of Maine in men’s basketball action Monday.

Kaimondre Owen led the Black Bears (5-13) with 19 points, while Junior Bernal drained 18 points for Maine.

Emmanuel 78, St. Joseph’s 71

BOSTON – Mack Spellman poured in 21 points to lead Emmanuel College to a 78-71 victory over St. Joseph’s.

The Monks (7-6) trailed 49-36 at halftime, but rallied to come to within three points of the Saints (9-5) with six minutes remaining in regulation. However, the Monks failed to sustain the rally bid in the waning minutes.

Junior Elbie Murphy had a team-high 16 points and 11 rebounds for St. Joseph’s in the losing effort.

Women’s basketball

Emmanuel 84, St. Joseph’s 53

BOSTON – Senior captain Jade Paez scored 20 points, seven steals and four assists to lead Emmanuel College to an 84-53 triumph over St. Joseph’s in women’s basketball action Monday.

The Saints (10-5) received fine offensive output from sophomore guard Iman Davis, who pumped in 18 points on 8-for-14 shooting and hauled down six rebounds.

The Monks (10-5) were led by rookie guard Casey Drake, who hit for 12 points, connecting on all three of her field goals attempts and shooting 5-for-7 from the line.
