LEWISTON – The Lewiston City Democratic Committee will hold its presidential caucus on Sunday, Feb. 10, at Lewiston High School on East Avenue.
Democrats in Lewiston will caucus to select their presidential preference and delegates to the Democratic State Convention, and to elect city officers and county committee members.
Check-in for registered Democrats and registration for unenrolled or unregistered voters will take place from noon to 1 p.m. The caucus will be called to order at 1. Presidential preference will take place at 2 p.m.
Seventeen-year-olds who will be 18 in November may register and participate in the caucus. Absentee caucus forms are available at www.mainedems.org.
The caucuses are the front lines of grassroots politics. Democratic candidates, elected officials and representatives from Democratic campaigns will attend.
“Caucuses are a time to make your voice heard. Together, we will work from the grassroots to build a strong party framework. I strongly encourage all Democrats to attend their town’s caucus and make their voices heard,” said John Knutson, chairman of the Maine Democratic Party.
People not registered in a political party who would like to enroll as Democrats may do so at city hall or at the caucus. Registered Greens or Republicans must change their registration by Jan. 26 to participate.
