PLATTSBURG, N.Y. – Matthew J. Pierce, 48, formerly of Turner, died unexpectedly Monday morning, Jan. 14, at his residence in Plattsburg, N.Y.
He was born in Norwalk, Conn., Nov. 4, 1959, the son of Webster and Cynthia (Polasko) Pierce. He attended Norwalk Conn., schools, until his family moved to Turner where he graduated from Leavitt High School in 1978. He then worked as a a mechanic in the automotive field at various Twin City businesses. He was a proud father of his two daughters, Kathleen and Ashley. He loved camping and hiking and enjoying nature along the way. He also loved animals, especially dogs. He was also an avid reader.
Besides his parents of Turner; he is survived by his two daughters, Kate and Ashley Pierce, both of Portland; four brothers, Scott Pierce, with whom he resided, of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Kevin Pierce of Lewiston, Mark Pierce and his wife, Holly, of Norwalk, Conn., and Michael Pierce and his wife, Deanna, of Turner; three sisters, Susan Pierce of Northport, Jody Glover and her husband, Bob, of Winthrop and Gail Bussiere and her husband, Ron, of Turner. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
