Boys: Mohamed Noor,

Lewiston indoor track

What’s left to accomplish in the regular season when you’ve already posted the fastest indoor one-mile and two-mile times in the state by a bunch?

Oh, how about putting one completely out of reach with a school record. And playing the rabbit to set the invisible bar for your teammate, helping him move to No. 2 on the chart with the state meet in sight.

Still a relative newcomer to competitive distance running, Noor added more sparkle to a fabulous year in Saturday’s eight-team KVAC competition at Bowdoin College. Noor knocked three seconds off his previous best time in the mile, reducing Lewiston’s all-time standard in the mile to 4:28.39 and preventing Riley Masters of Bangor from overtaking him for the top spot.

Noor fell four seconds shy of his top performance in the two-mile, but that might have been somewhat intentional. His pace brought out the best in Matt Driscoll, leading to a run of 10:01.52 and giving the Devils the top two times in the state this winter.

Girls, Jessica Stocker and Joline Dubuc,

Lewiston swimming

Four out of four isn’t bad.

Buoyed by a perfect night from two of its seniors, Lewiston splashed to an easy 127-27 victory Friday night over KVAC rival Messalonskee at Lewiston YWCA.

Stocker shone individually with triumphs in the 100-yard butterfly and 200 freestyle, prevailing by margins of 11 and 17 seconds, respectively.

It was Dubuc’s turn in the 50 freestyle (29.31 seconds) and 100 freestyle (1:06.70).

Dubuc and Stocker also teamed up to highlight overwhelming victories in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays. Allysa Thomas and Chelsey Provencher completed the lineup in the 200, with Thomas and Katie Tirabassi putting the finishing touches on the 400.
