NORWAY – The Western Foothills Land Trust will lead a “Snowshoe Introduction to Roberts Farm Preserve” from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27.
The preserve, which was purchased last fall by the trust for conservation and recreational purposes, is the future home of a system of nonmotorized recreational trails.
The trust is reviewing design bids and raising funds for a 6+km trail system and anticipates that by next winter, 3+km of trails will be available for cross country skiing and snowshoeing.
The event is an opportunity to explore the land prior to the construction of trails. It will offer winter views of Lake Pennesseewassee from various points on Roberts Farm Preserve. A $5 donation to support the land purchase will be accepted.
Participants should bring their own snowshoes, dress in layers and expect deep footing. The Roberts Farm Preserve entrance is approximately a quarter mile up Roberts Road from Route 117/118. People are asked to park along the road.
