BIDDEFORD (AP) – Maine’s attorney general is going after a Biddeford-based heating oil company accused of failing to honor customers’ prepaid oil contracts.
Attorney General Steve Rowe says the actions by Price Rite Oil, Perron Oil and Veilleux Oil & Service not only resulted in losses for customers, they “potentially put some people’s health in danger.”
So far, the attorney general’s office has received more than 120 complaints from customers of the three oil companies.
Biddeford police launched a criminal investigation and seized boxes of records Tuesday from the company’s offices.
Owner Nicholas Curro didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment from The Associated Press.
A recorded message says the three oil companies are negotiating to get fuel to honor their heating oil contracts.
