WILTON – Harper Burke of Wilton has been accepted into the Mid Maine Youth Orchestra as a violinist.
The Mid Maine Youth Orchestra accepts young musicians from the Mid Maine region who excel in their instrument. Members were selected by auditions and had to be in good standing in their school band or orchestra.
MMYO’s philosophy is to foster the development of musical talent in Maine’s youth and to provide musical opportunities. It is being led by Andrew J. Forster, music educator in SAD 47, and Steven J. Muise, music educator in SAD 9.
Burke, 16, is a junior at Mt. Blue High School and is the daughter of Pat O’Donnell and Michael Burke of Wilton.
The public will be invited to two concerts offered by MMYO. The free concerts will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 29, in the Messalonskee Performing Art Center in Oakland and at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 2, in the Nordica Auditorium at the University of Maine Farmington.
