BRUNSWICK – William R. Chickering (Sonny), 80, of Brunswick, passed away Jan. 22, after battling a terminal illness.
He was born Aug. 11, 1927, to Ethel Holbrook in Damariscotta. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, Herbert Holbrook. He attended school in South Portland.
He was a man of many talents and served three years in the Navy and two years in the Army. He retired from Geiger Bros. in Lewiston and loved hunting, fishing and woodworking. Most of all, he loved his family.
He married Carlena LeMieux on May 4, 2007.
He is survived by his wife, Carlena LeMieux Chickering of Brunswick; a sister, Barbara Green of Brunswick; 11 children, Linda Ames and husband, Cecile, of Standish, Billy Chickering and wife, Milly, of South Carolina, Tommy Chickering and wife, Glenna, of Auburn, Donna Thibodeau and husband, Ernest, of Florida, Danny Chickering and wife, Debbie, of South Carolina, Patty Frasier and husband, Dan, of Florida, Stanley Chickering and wife, Gini, of Leeds, Herbert Chickering and wife, Patty, of Oxford, Ricky White and wife, Lori, of New Hampshire, Kevin White and fiancee, Pat, of Auburn and Corinne Blais and husband, Alain, of Monmouth; five step-children with Carlena, Christine Harness of Wisconsin, John LeMieux and wife, Cindy, of Portland, Michael LeMieux of Florida, Bonnie LeMieux of Sabattus and Patrick LeMieux and wife, Debbie, of California; 34 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a sister, Anna Pelletier; and a daughter, Anna Byrnes.
