NORWAY – Steve Anderson of Bethel went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, Jan. 23, after a long illness.
He was born Aug. 23, 1945, in Brunswick, to parents Aksel and Mabel Anderson. He was a lifelong resident of Bethel, attending schools in the local area, graduating from Woodstock High School in 1963, then was in the Army Reserves for six years.
In 1968, he married Patricia Shannon, and they had two beautiful children, Brian and Eric. Steve worked for the Department of Transportation as a truck driver for 25 years, until he became ill and had to retire. He also worked for nine years at Mt. Abram Skiway before that as a mountain groomer and chairlift operator.
He was a hunter, fisherman and fur trapper most of his life. When he became unable to trap any longer, he loved to read about it and talk to anyone who loved it too. He continued to hunt every year and shot his last deer this year, for which he was so proud and elated about. He also fell in love with Lake Azichoos and fished it with his wife, Pat for several summers. Their grandchildren, Caylie Jo, Wyatt and Kayson were a source of great delight and enjoyment for him. He always looked forward to having them ‘for sleep overs.’
He was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Oxford, where he attended since 1995. He was a born-again Christian, and enjoyed being a part of that body of Christ very much. He had a great deal of love and affection for the Rev. Lloyd Waterhouse, who became Steve’s friend first, then his pastor.
He is survived by his lifelong partner and wife, Pat; his son, Brian and daughter-in-law, Shannon; three grandchildren, Caylie Jo, Eric Wyatt and Kayson Morse; a brother, Peter Anderson and his wife. Nancy.
He was predeceased by his beloved son, Eric; both of his parents; grandparents; aunts; and uncles.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew him well. He will also be sadly missed by his special dog, Cindy, who was a constant companion to him these last 10 years.
