AUBURN – Mary Murphy has been promoted to associate director of the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA. Murphy will focus on staff management and membership and program development.

Murphy has been a member of the YMCA staff since 1987 when she started at the front desk as a part-time receptionist while a junior at ELHS. After her graduation from E.L. in 1989, she went to work full time at the YMCA and was promoted to office manger/bookkeeper in 1990. Through the years, she worked with the executive director and staff as the YMCA grew to meet the needs of the community. In 2005 Murphy was also made the human resource director for the organization.

During her career at the YMCA, Murphy has attended dozens of YMCA-certified training courses and is pursuing a bachelor of science degree in public administration at the University of Maine at Augusta.

She and her husband have two children.
