HARTFORD – Joyce C. Munroe, 71, of 66 Dakin Lane, Hartford, died Sunday, Jan. 13, at her residence, after a long illness.

She was born in Auburn on Aug. 28, 1936, the daughter of Michael and Iza (Marston) Schmieks and had been a resident of this community all of her life.

She was educated in Auburn schools and was a graduate of Edward Little High School, class of 1954. She was a homemaker for most of her life, having raised seven children.

She enjoyed cooking, knitting, doing crossword puzzles and enjoying her dogs’ company.

She is survived by three sons, Ronald Vining II and his wife, Joan, of Auburn, Rickey Vining of Bridgton and Bobbie Vining of Hartford; three daughters, Rose Hodgkin and her companion, Steven Finley, of Norway, Tina Veinott and her companion, Bruce Pinard, of Buckfield and Tammy Gauthier of Poland; one sister, Sheila Palmer and her husband, Clifford, of Burnham; 21 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son, James Vining, on Sept. 24, 2005.
