Immigration:

Supports additional personnel, infrastructure and technology on the ports and border. Would crack down on employers who hire undocumented immigrants. Favors a system that allows undocumented immigrants in good standing to pay a fine, learn English and go to the back of the line for the opportunity to become citizens.

Iraq:

Would immediately remove one to two combat brigades each month; have all out within 16 months. Doesn’t want any permanent bases built there. Would provide at least $2 billion to expand services to Iraqi refugees in neighboring countries and ensure Iraqis in-country can find a safe haven.

Energy:

Would invest $150 billion over 10 years to advance the next generation of biofuels and fuel infrastructure, accelerate the commercialization of plug-in hybrids, promote development of commercial-scale renewable energy, invest in low-emissions coal plants and begin transition to new digital electricity grid. Also reduce oil consumption by at least 35 percent, or 10 million barrels per day, by 2030.

Health care:

Supports new national health plan, affordable coverage similar to that available to members of Congress. Includes: guaranteed eligibility; subsidies for families that don’t qualify for Medicaid or SCHIP but still need help. Requires all children have coverage.

Economy:

In addition to increased investments in infrastructure, energy independence, education, and research and development, would create a new “Making Work Pay” tax credit of up to $500 per person, or $1,000 per working family; create a 10 percent universal mortgage credit; and eliminate all income taxation of seniors making less than $50,000 per year.
