BURLINGTON, N.C. – Rita Henrietta Levesque, 76, died Thursday, Jan. 24, at the Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington, N.C.

Rita was born in Lewiston on Sept. 8, 1931, a daughter to Germaine and Luc Callier Goyette. She attended Holy Family School prior to working in several local shoe shops as a stitcher.

She married Omer J. Levesque in April 1952.

Rita enjoyed dancing, Bingo and playing cards. Her family was important to her and was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all.

She is survived by six daughters, Diane Rioux of Lexington, Ky., Nancy Barmes of Virginia Beach, Va., Joan Smith of Burlington, N.C., Dolores Levesque of Graham, N.C., Judy LeRiche of Burlington, N.C., and Lisa Lloyd of Burlington, N.C.; two sons, Roger Levesque and David Levesque, both of Lewiston; five sisters, Lorraine Chicoine, Connie Chabot, Anita Canuel, Terry Michaud, Jeannine Berube; four brothers, Marcel Goyette, Rene Goyette, Bert Goyette, Raymond Goyette; 21 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Omer Joseph Levesque Sr.; parents, Germaine Goyette and Luc Goyette; sons, Omer Joseph Levesque Jr. and Paul R. Levesque; a sister, Georgette Plourde; and brothers, Robert Goyette and Conrad Goyette.
