AUBURN – A celebration of life service honoring the life of Matthew J. Pierce was held Saturday morning from the Memorial Chapel of Dillingham and Son, with Matt’s sister, Susan Pierce, presiding.
Services began with the song “You’ve Got a Friend,” by Carole King. Words of remembrance were shared by Matt’s sisters, Gail Bussiere, Jody Glover and Susan Pierce, who also recited the Prayer of St. Francis in honor of her brother who was a true friend to nature. Matt’s friends, Dale Talbot, Bob Coffey and Peter Vallerand, also shared words of remembrance. Other favorite musical selections in honor of Matt were “Keep Me in Your Heart,” by Warren Zevon, “What a Wonderful World,” by Louis Armstrong, and “Way Over Yonde,r” by Carole King.
Before closing, Matt’s brother-in-law, Bob Glover, shared memories of Matt and introduced the song by Bruce Springsteen that came out three months ago called “Terry’s Song,” but for the service he called it “Matt’s Song” on how he felt best described his brother-in-law who “broke the mold.”
Following greetings of personal condolence to the Pierce family by those in attendance, all were invited to a reception of fellowship at the home of Matt’s parents, Webster and Cynthia Pierce, in Turner. Arrangements were by Dillingham & Son Memorial Chapel & Tribute Center, Auburn.
