PARIS – A woman involved in a high-speed chase with police last week will remain behind bars, a judge ruled Tuesday.

Alexandra Jordan Harris, 23, of 40 West Summit Hill Road in Woodstock is being held without bail unless she can be admitted to a Kennebec County drug unit or get a Maine Pre-Trial Services agreement, which will put her in a residential substance abuse program.

On Jan. 22, Harris was a passenger in a van driven by Derrick Morrison, 27, of the same address. Morrison, who had checked out of a substance abuse program at the St. Francis Halfway House in Auburn without permission, led police on a chase through Woodstock. Harris was apprehended after Morrison drove Harris’ van into a wall of snow at the end of a dead-end road.

After the incident, Harris was held without bail on violation of conditions of release.

Harris was indicted in August for Class B aggravated forgery. According to an affidavit by Lt. Michael Dailey of the Paris Police Department, Harris passed fake $100 bills at several fast food restaurants and convenience stores.

As part of her conditions of release, Harris was to have no contact with Morrison and refrain from using alcohol and illegal drugs. According to agent Zane Loper of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, Harris tested positive for cocaine and opiates on Jan. 24.

Harris was indicted in November for Class C unlawful possession of scheduled drugs. Harris was initially given a summons for the charge after she was found in possession of heroin. Morrison was arrested in the same incident on charges of selling drugs out of a motel room.

Morrison has been indicted on charges of aggravated trafficking in heroin and cocaine, unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs, unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, trafficking in prison contraband, and the criminal forfeiture of $976.

He has also been charged with escape, eluding police, operating after habitual offender revocation, and violation of conditions of release in relation to the chase.

Morrison is scheduled to appear in Oxford County Superior Court today at 8:30 a.m.
