LEWISTON – Howard A. Stimans, 73, a resident of Livermore, died Monday, Jan. 28, at Central Maine Medical Center surrounded by his family after a long illness.

He was born July 29, 1934, in Farmington, the son of Henry and Grace (Stimans) Judd and attended Livermore Falls High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1956. He worked for International Paper Co. in Jay in the wood room for 31 years, retiring in 1986.

On Dec. 21, 1996, he married Linda McWilliams of Lewiston. He was a life member of the Lisbon VFW, a member of IP Quarter Century club and attended Turner Baptist Church.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his brothers and grandsons and being outside on the lawn swing on Route 4 at his brother’s home.

He is survived by his wife, Linda of North Jay; six daughters, Diana Broadway and her companion, Troy Martin, of East Dixfield, Leona Curran and her husband, Michael, Margaret Curran, Concettina Aspernault and her husband, Herbert, Edna Billings and her husband, Robert, and Mandy Gagne, all of Lewiston; five brothers, Doug Judd and his fiancée, Linda Lilly, of Livermore Falls, Ben Judd of Sabattus, John Judd and his wife, Sherian, of Livermore Falls, Lucien Dube and his wife, Arlene, of Livermore and Warren Dorey and his wife, Brenda, of Jay; sisters, Betty Ann Robbins and her husband, Robert, of Lewiston and Paula Mitchell of North Carolina; grandsons, James M. Broadway and his wife, Amy and Brian A. Broadway and his wife, Carrie, Charles Michaud, Lawrence Judd Jr., Corey Curran, Robert Billings Jr., Derek Billings and Jerome Billings; four granddaughters, Susan Murphy, Marie Correia, Jordyn Gagne and Madyson Star-Curran; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Priscilla (Samson) Stimans in 1994; his brothers, Henry Judd Jr. and Robert Brown; and sisters, Beverly Brice and Roberta Larabee.
