LEWISTON – Cecile D. Lauze, 89, of Schooner Estates, Auburn, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born in Lewiston on Oct. 10, 1919, a daughter to the late Armond and Virginie (Lapointe) Dionne. She was educated in Lewiston schools and worked for 32 years at Crest Shoe.
She married the love of her life, Robert Lauze on June 6, 1942. Together, they lived in Lewiston and spent many happy weekends at camp on Tacoma Lake in Litchfield, until he predeceased her in 1984.
She was a member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Horizon 55, Holy Cross, Covenant 50 and Litchfield Seniors. She enjoyed word puzzles and was an avid knitter, knitting more than 1,500 pairs of mittens for local school children. She looked forward to playing cards with a group of friends every Tuesday. She also loved to play bingo and played whenever she could.
She leaves many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband; a brother, Armond Dionne; and a sister, Simonne Robert.
