NORWAY – The Norway Memorial Library has announced the continuation of the Independent Film Series at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, then every other Saturday evening through February and March.
The films in the series are available through a monthly subscription to the Film Movement made possible by the Friends of Norway Memorial Library. Film Movement selects and distributes independent, foreign and documentary films.
The film on Saturday is “Arranged.” It takes place in Brooklyn, N.Y., where two young teachers, one Muslim and the other Orthodox Jewish, become friends during the time their families are embarking on the process of finding spouses for them. It is in English.
On Feb. 23, “Adam’s Apple,” a film set in a remote area of Denmark where an optimistic preacher takes in convicts to help his rural church, will be aired.
“Fraulein,” a film from Switzerland, will be shown March 8, and the last film, from Russia, will be “The Island.” The three foreign films have English subtitles.
All are free and open to the public. Complimentary popcorn is available. Call the Norway Memorial Library at 743-5309 for more information.
