LEWISTON – Team captain Donna Giroux and her brother, Ron, have dealt with a variety of family health problems this winter.

Their recovering father, mother and brother were able to attend the Thomas Lahey Foundation Bowlfest at Spare-Time Recreation last Saturday, however, and cheer the Girouxski team to the title.

Teammate Paul Kordalski lit up the lanes with a 240 in the single-string rolloff to nail down the title.

Redlon & Johnson of Bath finished second.

Team members included Wayne and Glen Fillion, Matt Nicole, Gerry Bissonette and Keith Yeaton. Glen Fillion rolled a 226 (scratch) to carry his team in the rolloff.

Finishing third were the Friday Nighters led by Pat Yeaton, Pam Heald (218 scratch), Randy Geoffroy, Dick Harris (212 scratch) and Dave Heald.

Team USA took top honors with a high series scratch of 2,963. Team mambers: Gil Dionne (captain), P.G. Cote. Mike Peaco, Jim Morin, Barry Peaco.

Mike Lahey also retained his “Atta Boy Award” for his challenge match victory over Paul Dionne.

A total of 170 bowlers competed in the event.

The Lahey Foundation was established in memory of school administrator Thomas E. Lahey, who died in 1987.

It has provided more than $140,000 in educational funds to graduates of Lewiston, Edward Little and St. Dominic since its inception.
