AUBURN – Donald R. Ouellette, 63, of 43 Louise St. in Auburn, died Sunday, Feb. 3, at The Hospice House with his family at his side.
He was born in Lewiston Sept. 1, 1944, a son of Eugene and Theodice (Morin) Ouellette. He was educated in Lewiston schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community.
On Sept. 7, 1963, he married his high school sweetheart, the former Jackie Charest of Lewiston. He was employed in the baking industry since the 1950s. He spent the mid-1950s through the mid-1960s working at Progressive Bakery, then spent a number of years at Labadee’s Bakery. In the early 1970s, he began working for Nissen Baking Co./ Interstate Baking Brands until his retirement in 2004.
He was a member of St. Louis Church and the Auburn Catholic Community and was a past member of the New Auburn Social Club. He enjoyed bowling, as he was an avid bowler throughout the 1970s at Holiday Lanes, and was a loyal member of Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco Workers & Grain Millers Union Local 334.
Don was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend as well as a loyal hockey father and grandfather. He spent numerous hours watching and transporting his son and grandson to countless games and practices. He truly lived for his family, especially his grandchildren and the many special family gatherings which he greatly enjoyed. He was a kind-hearted man who always gave so much of himself to others and will be sadly missed by family and friends.
He leaves his wife of 44 years, Jackie Ouellette of Auburn; a son, Michael Ouellette and his girlfriend, Jean Martineau, of Lewiston; a daughter, Karen Robichaud and husband, Randy, of Auburn; a granddaughter, Kasandra Robichaud and boyfriend, Jon Mercier, of Lewiston; two grandsons, Cameron Robichaud of Auburn and Kolbey Ouellette of Lewiston; a brother, Roland Ouellette and wife, Margie, of Massachusetts; four sisters, Doris Gosselin of Lewiston, Irene Leckbee and husband, Johnny, of Texas, Simone Martin and companion, Harvey Dion, of Florida, and Cecile Poliquin and husband, Bob, of New Hampshire; his mother-in-law and special friend, Marguerite Charest of Auburn; a brother-in-law, Raymond Charest and wife, Joline, of Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Rene Charest; his parents, Eugene and Theodice Ouellette; a sister, Anita Comito; and a brother-in-law, Gerry Gosselin.
