PERU – Selectmen had several suggestions Monday night in answer to the state Department of Transportation’s request for improvements on state roads in Peru.

Selectman Jim Pulsifer said Green Woods Road needs to be resurfaced.

Selectman Rodney Jamison said the manhole in front of the memorial on Route 108 at the caution light needed to be flushed out. He said it has been plugged for some time. Drainage from the manhole runs about 200 yards into the Androscoggin River.

The state Department of Health and Human Services has authorized a temporary plumbing license to Jack Plumbley while he takes the required courses.

Selectmen have asked former Selectman Bill Hine to come in to discuss the Web site for the town that Hine has created. All agreed that Hine was doing a good job, but they want him to come in to assure the board that once the public information has been put on the site it can not be altered.

Selectman Laurieann Milligan said, “It’s great that he is doing this for the town.” However, she supported a face-to-face meeting on the issue.

The board approved use of the Rockemeka Grange Hall for a benefit supper March 1 for 11-year-old Kayla Provencher. The Dirigo Middle School student has been selected to participate the Goodwill Junior Karate-Do tournament in Osaka and Tokyo, Japan in March.
