FARMINGTON – Men from Wilton and Jay were found guilty of sex-related charges Monday in Franklin County Superior Court.

William E. Donald, 59, of Wilton pleaded no contest to a charge of sexual abuse of a minor. He had two counts of gross sexual assault and one of sexual abuse of a minor dismissed.

Donald was arrested in April 2007 and accused of having oral sex with a young teenage boy three or four times years ago.

Donald’s plea of no contest was accepted by Justice Valerie Stanfill, who then declared him guilty. Sentencing is set for 8:30 a.m. Feb. 29.

In a second case, Richard L. Ganci Jr., 37, of Jay pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of unlawful sexual contact with a child. The original felony charge brought in March 2007 was dropped.

Defense attorney Walter Hanstein and Assistant District Attorney Andrew Robinson agreed to Ganci withdrawing his plea and entering one of guilty to disorderly conduct if he does not commit any crimes in the next 12 months, Hanstein told Justice Stanfill.

The judge said if Ganci does not abide by the agreement he will have to register as a sex offender for 10 years. She set sentencing for March 24, 2009.

Ganci was released on personal recognizance bail with conditions that he have no unsupervised contact with anyone under age 16 and undergo counseling.
