Editor’s note: Every day there are rays of light that shine into the lives of people through their neighbors, their co-workers, their families and even through complete strangers. This column is devoted to exposing these sunbeams to the light and offering readers an opportunity to share good news. We plan to occasionally offer up our own sunbeams, too.
Shining light

The Friends of the West Paris Library would like to thank all who helped make the “Let your Light Shine” fundraiser a huge success. “The Little Castle with a Big Heart” has a magical look every evening since the lighting ceremony on Dec. 10. The lights will continue through Valentine’s Day.

Most of the donations were given in memory or honor of a loved one. The names of these special people are being inscribed in a book titled “Let Your Light Shine,” which will be available for viewing at the library. The future library addition, that this event raised money for, is designed to preserve the beauty of the little castle and will be a wonderful memorial to all those honored.

We are so grateful for all the help we received to light up the little castle.

A great year

As I wrap up 2007, I look back at all the programs, special events, and improvements to the recreational facilities over this past year and am grateful to all those who have contributed to each of these. The increased participation and enjoyment marks the success of these programs, special events and improvements.

So to those who have coached, kept score, dressed up at events, worked behind the scenes to make things happen, gardeners, planners, the business participation, financial supporters and everyone in between, I want to simply and sincerely say, ‘Thank you, and best wishes for the new year.”

Go Pats

Many thanks to the Auburn Flagship Cinema for showing the New England Patriots games on wide screen high definition. They were free events, and I went to all 17 games as of this writing.

Many others attended the showings. The atmosphere, comfortable seats and the availability of beverages made for enjoyable viewing. Managment and staff made everyone feel welcome.

Again, a big thank-you to Flagship Cinema for making the showings available.

Easy on Sunday morning

One cold Sunday morning in January, I called pharmacist James Witt at home. A friend of mine desperately needed some medical supplies, and Witt’s store, Howard’s Rexall, of Farmington, was closed. Witt immediately agreed to meet me there. He kindly provided his advice and the necessary supplies.

Thank you so much, Mr Witt. Thanks for your expertise and compassion. Thanks also to your family for sharing you on a Sunday morning.

Polite and helpful

The employees of the Norway-Paris Solid Waste help the public to help our planet from getting any dirtier than it is by recycling waste. I think they do a good job. They are always polite and helpful to me when I go there.

I believe it is important for those who use the facility to appreciate those employees by offering a good word and/or a thank-you. Unkind words are unnecessary and they cast an undesirable light on all who deliver them.

Chris angel

On a Sunday early in January, Jane Pelletier had an accident by the Twin Bridges. A person by the name of Chris stayed with her while the ambulance and Turner Rescue was on the way.

If Chris had not found her when he did, things would have been a lot worse.

This is a thank you to Chris and the Turner Rescue.
