PARIS – An elderly Hebron couple remain hospitalized Wednesday after their truck slammed into another vehicle while trying to avoid it on Route 119 Tuesday afternoon.

Elsie Bellavance, 70, is listed in critical condition at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston where her husband Robert, 72, is hospitalized in good condition, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

The couple were driving on Route 119 heading toward Hebron when Albert Smith, 32, of Turner, lost control of his Dodge pickup truck, slid across the center line and was broadsided by the Bellavance truck, which was trying to avoid Smith’s vehicle.

The accident remains under investigation by Lt. Michael Dailey of the Paris Police Department.
