DAYTON (AP) — A 22-year-old Kennebunk man is the third person to die in a snowmobile accident this year after hitting a ditch and being thrown from his sled while riding in Dayton.
The Maine Warden Service said Mark Lank suffered head trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene following the accident at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday.
A friend who was riding with Lank told investigators that speed was a factor.
The death is the third snowmobile-related fatality this year and the second in less than a week.
A 17-year-old Atkinson boy fell through thin ice on Sebec Lake and drowned on Friday night while riding to a friend’s house in a winter storm.
