The recent flap about Auburn’s former superintendent of schools got me thinking. If Barbara Eretzian is such a saint, and a champion of Auburn and its children, why didn’t she just volunteer two or three months to help them?

The people who allowed her $750 per day, and then defended it, sound like they come right out of a Carl Hiaasen/John Grisham hybrid: comically over the top and inept while, at the same time, almost criminal.

Once again, the Jan Brady of cities in Maine sticks it to the taxpayers, while the rest of the state has a good chuckle.
