FARMINGTON – SAD 9 directors voted to expel two high school boys accused of violating district policies related to drugs after separate disciplinary hearings Tuesday night.
Both hearings were held in executive session with the votes made in public.
In the first case, administrators became aware of the illegal sale of drugs in school and conducted an investigation, according to board minutes.
The student admitted he brought prescription drugs to school and sold them to a fellow student. He also admitted he possessed a substantial number of additional pills, the minutes stated.
The board found the student violated the policies of SAD 9, which prohibited possession and distribution of drugs that endanger other students.
Directors also found the student “has been deliberately disobedient.”
In the second case, after investigation of a reported sale of marijuana, the student was brought to the office and questioned, at which time he denied possession and sale of any drugs, minutes state.
Further investigation resulted in finding drugs, which ultimately were admitted to have been brought to the school by the student. He also admitted selling some pills for $15 because “he needed money.”
The board’s findings stated the student violated SAD 9 drug policies and he had been deliberately disobedient, which put other students in danger.
