LEWISTON – Marta G. Oliver, 94, formerly of Schooner Estates, died at d’Youville Pavilion on Jan. 31.

She was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, April 15, 1913, the daughter of Pedro and Maria Skerrett Gutierrez. She grew up in San Juan and New York City and started work as a legal secretary for Sen. George Smathers of Florida.

In 1949, she married Col. Andres Oliver and traveled extensively throughout the world during his career as an Air Force flight surgeon. In 1965, she settled in Gloucester Point, Va., and lived in Virginia until her move to Auburn in 1992 to be close to her family. She loved music, cooking, knitting and ceramics and was devoted to her family.

She is survived by her son, Lanny Oliver and his wife, Barbara, of Lewiston.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1972; and her son, Andrew Oliver in 1991.

Her family would like to extend a special thanks to the caring staff and volunteers at d’Youville Pavilion, Schooner Estates and Central Maine Medical Center.
