ALBANY, Ore. (AP) – A small plane spun from the sky and crashed into a cornfield in western Oregon on Friday, killing all three men on board, officials said.

Witnesses saw the plane “in a spin, out of control,” said Tim Mueller, the Linn County sheriff.

“There’s no indication that it tried to land or skidded. It looks like it just hit where it hit,” Mueller said.

The sheriff’s office identified those on board as owner and pilot Louis Jay Lamb, 49, Steven Teeney, 36, and Riley Bunn, 32.

It appeared the three impact, the sheriff said. The sheriff’s office said they were on their way to a hunting convention in Utah.

The four-seat Lancair ES took off from Salem at 10:05 a.m. en route to Klamath Falls by way of Eugene, said Mike Fergus, a regional spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration.

Mueller said deputies were still trying to remove the bodies from the plane’s fuselage. Deputies brought in all-terrain vehicles because the field was too soggy for regular equipment.

FAA and National Transportation Safety Board investigators were at the scene.
