LEWISTON – Gerard E. Jutras, 86, a resident of 158 Russell St., died early Sunday, Feb. 10, at Russell Park Living Center after a long illness.
He was born in St. Bridget, P.Q., April 10, 1921, the son of Edmund and Anna (Smith) Jutras. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 702nd Tank Battalion.
He married the former Yvette Paradis on Nov. 16, 1946. While raising a family, he worked as a carpenter most of his life as a home builder.
Besides his wife Yvette of Lewiston, he is survived by one daughter, Janice Bartlett and her husband, Dwight, of Topsham; four sons, Gerard “Sonny” and his wife, Diane, of Lewiston, Roland and his wife, Marie, of Lewiston, David and his wife, Jill, of Poland and Claude of Lewiston; four sisters, Yvette St. Germain and Simone Gaudreau and Theresa Marcoux, all of Lewiston and Germaine Boucher of Auburn; one brother, Marcel and his wife, Carmen, of Manchester, Conn.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three sisters, Florette Carrier, Jean Marquis and Gertrude Picard; and a brother, Roger.
