KEENE, N.H. (AP) – A Keene State College student has died from injuries suffered in a fall near Melbourne, Austrailia.
College president Helen Giles-Gee says 20-year-old Matthew Atwood, a junior safety studies major, died in the fall. He was studying abroad at La Trobe University.
A campus memorial for Matthew will be scheduled; details will be forthcoming.
Police told The Advertiser newspaper of Bendigo that they were investigating if alcohol was involved, and said they were not treating the incident as suspicious. They said a party had been held in the area.
Detective Senior Constable David Morris said it appeared the student had broken or fallen into a plate-glass sliding door at the front of the empty unit.
Morris said the student had recently arrived in Australia and his luggage was virtually unpacked.
