TURNER – A record 120 Democrats voted their preference in the 2008 presidential primary caucus Sunday at the town office.
Standing for candidates were 112 voters, with another eight casting absentee ballots. The result was 62 votes for U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and 55 votes for U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., giving each four delegates to the state Democratic convention in May. Two voters stood uncommitted, earning one delegate to the convention. One absentee ballot was cast for John Edwards who has bowed out of the race.
There was standing room only at the Turner Town Office, which according to long-time residents was the largest crowd ever to assemble there.
