FRESNO, Calif. (AP) – The California Highway Patrol says about a dozen people have been injured and 50 vehicles damaged in a fog-related pileup south of Fresno.

The chain-reaction accident Tuesday morning shut down a portion of Highway 99’s southbound lanes and scattered broken glass and mangled cars along a three-mile stretch in Kingsburg. Visibility was just 50 feet when CHP officers got to the scene.

CHP Officer Joseph Miller says three people had to be extracted from a car that slammed into a big rig. All victims have been transported to local hospitals.
